I was so excited about watching this movie… I loved the first one and adore Jason Statham! So the other day I got it to watch it and… buf…it’s got a couple moments but it ain’t that good.

It’s ok but there’s others that are better.

Nine tells the story of Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), a world famous film director as he confronts an epic mid-life crisis with both creative and personal problems. He must balance the many women of his life, including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant andcostume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

Watch the trailer and the pictures and you’ll see how you’re probably going to want to see it too.

I don’t know about you but I’m dying to see the project that has been able to unite so many good artists.

Where The Wild Things Are / Donde Viven Los Monstruos

DONDE VIVEN LOS MONSTRUOS…..

Recuerdo unos monstruos…unos monstruos enormes, simpáticos, peludos y apuchuflables….los recuerdo dibujados en las páginas de un libro y ahora aparecen en carne y hueso en las pantallas de los cines. Bueno, o eso creía porque no hace mucho que se ha estrenado y ayer voy a Kinépolis y ya sólo la dan a las 16:30. A ver si logro verla esta tarde a través de internet. Pero no necesito verla para saber que será maravillosa. Aún no conozco a nadie a quien no le haya conmovido y la fotografía …basta con ver la imágenes.  En cualquier caso, ya os diré lo que me parece.

• Donde Viven los Monstruos (título original en inglés Where The Wild Things Are) es un libro infantil creado por Maurice Sendak. El libro fue escrito en 1963, siendo condecorado con la Medalla Caldercott en 1964. También ganó el Boston Globe-Horn Book Award y fue un libro notable de la ALA (American Library Association, Asociacion de Bibliotecas Americana). El libro cuenta la historia de Max, un niño muy inteligente, incomprendido y rebelde, que se escapa de casa tras una fuerte discusión con su madre. Pero no es una huida cualquiera, pues Max se interna en un bosque misterioso creado por su propia imaginación. Su objetivo: llegar a la tierra de las Cosas Salvajes, un lugar donde podrá hacer travesuras para siempre. (Wikipedia) La historia ha sido llevada al cine por Spike Jonze. WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE…..

I remember these monsters…these big, enormous, funny, nice, hairy and hughable monsters… I remember seeing them drawn on this book’s pages and now I see them on their flesh on the big screen. Or at least that’s what I thought because it was released very recently in Spain and they’re taking it away from the movie theaters so when I went to Kinepolis to watch it yesterday they told me they only screened it at 16:30 so I couldn’t get to see it. I’ll try to see it this afternoon through the internet. Anyways, I don’t need to see it to know that it’s a beautiful and precious story and to recommend it. I don’t know of anyone who’s seen it and hasn’t been touched by it.  And the photography… you only have to see the pictures from the movie.
Anyways, I’ll tell you what I think about it when I see it.

• Where The Wild Things is  a book for kids written by Maurice Sendak. The book was written in 1963. It won the the Caldercott Prize in 1964. It also won the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award and was a well known book at the ALA (American Library Association). The book talks about Max’s life, a really intelligent kid, not understood and a rebel. He runs away from home after a strong fight with his mom. But it isn’t just a normal runaway. Max gets into a mysterious woods created by his own imagination. His objective is to get to the land of The Wild Things, a place where he will be able to have fun forever (Wikipedia). The story has become a movie thanks to Spike Jonze.  If you want to know more about the movie go to IMDB or to the official “Where the Wild things are” .

Young criminals in good neighbourhoods / Delincuentes juveniles en zonas bien

Rabia, impotencia y miedo. Eso es lo que se siente cuando micos de entre 11 y 16 años se dedican a amenazar, a golpear, a lanzar contenedores de basura a los coches que pasan para ver si se estrellan, a atracar, quemar y destrozar y encima, nadie hace nada. Niños que lo tienen todo, vestidos de marca de arriba abajo que no conocen las consecuencias de sus actos y tampoco se preocupan por ello porque nadie les ha enseñado lo que es el respeto. Niñatos malcriados que obtienen dinero de sus padres con sólo pedirlo. Los mismos que ves de la mano de su madre sonriendo y pidiendo que les compren algo un día en una tienda aparecen al día siguiente con sus amigos camorristas, vestiditos de marca y con el osea en la boca pero varas o navajas en las manos.

Se trata de un problema creciente entre los niños de la zona de Pozuelo-Aravaca. Lo último en estas zonas es la moda de atacar a las mujeres que van a limpiar a las casas, muchas de ellas inmigrantes sin apenas recursos y que en ocasiones no pueden denunciar al no tener papeles. ¿Qué será lo siguiente? ¿Entrar en casa al más puro estilo Funny Games?

La impotencia es lo peor. Son menores, algunos sin identificar al no tener que llevar el DNI por tener menos de 14 años. No conocen las palabras castigo, honor, respeto y educación porque en su casa no se lo han enseñado. Y por tanto, no tienen límite. Lo hacen por diversión y descargan sus subidones hormonales a base de salvajadas.

Y luego los padres se quejan de que en los colegios no educan. Señores, el colegio está para dar cultura, la educación se da en casa.

Rage, impotence and fear. That’s what you feel when little 11-16 year old preppy kids dedicate their spare time on threatening and beating people, on throwing big rubbish deposits to cars that go through the street at that moment, robing, burning and destroying and no one does anything. These are kids who have everything. Dressed up with expensive clothes that their parents buy every time they want something new, these kids don’t know what consequences are and they don’t even care. No one has tough them what the word respect means.

Spoiled teenagers that get money from their parents every time they ask for it. The same kids you see one day shopping with their moms, smiling and getting everything they ask for at the shop, come to the same shop the next day with their friends, dressed up with the newest sneakers on the market and their preppy expressions but with sticks and sometimes even a knife in their hands.

This is something that has gone from being an anecdote to being a problem in Pozuelo and Aravaca. The latest? One of the trends now seems to be attack and robe and specially to the women who go to the houses in the area to clean. Most of these women are poor immigrants and many can’t even go to the police because they’re not legally established.

What will be next? Enter our houses like in Funny Games?

The worst part is how impotent you feel with this situation. They’re kids protected by law, most of them under 16. Some don’t even have a document with them that identifies them because they’re under 14. They don’t know the words punishment, honor, respect or education and good manners because they never received that at home. And therefore, they don’t have a limit. They do all this just for the fun of it. And they relief their hormonal ups and downs with violence.

And then, we have to listen to those parents say that schools aren’t educating or showing manners to their kids. Sorry ladies and gentleman but schools are for culture. Education and manners have to be tough at home.

Zielo, new posh mall in Pozuelo / Zielo, el nuevo centro en Pozuelo

Pozuelo es conocida como una de las áreas más caras para vivir de Madrid. Es una zona donde la calidad de vida se supone por encima de la media. Pero, aunque la gente que vive en la zona cuenta con más capacidad adquisitiva que la media de la ciudad, no compran habitualmente sus cosas en tiendas como Loewe o Roberto Verino. La gente de Pozuelo puede ir a estas tiendas a comprar un regalo de Navidades, un bolso especial o el traje para una boda pero sus compras rutinarias las hacen en Mercadona o Hipercor, compran su ropa de día a día en Zara y van a comer al Vips, Hollywood, el restaurante chino de su calle o a los bares de tapas de la zona. Vale, sí, van más que la media ciudadana, gastan más dinero en colegios privados (Pozuelo es un área en el que viven muchas familias numerosas) y conducen coches más caros (muchos de ellos dados por cargos de trabajo). Pero, no compran sus productos diarios ni ropa básica en tiendas de lujo o semi-lujo por lo general.

Zielo es el nuevo centro comercial de Pozuelo, un centro un tanto pijo para ser precisos. Un lugar único, con un diseño único y varias tiendas únicas de diseñadores o precios por encima de lo normal. Un centro comercial en la zona era necesario pero la manera en que se ha decidido hacer puede no haber sido la mejor. Tenemos jóvenes promesas y diseñadores consagrados, tiendas delicatesen y un supermercado de lo más caro donde puedes encontrar lo mismo que en otros pero al doble de precio. De quién fue la idea? No quiero ni saberlo.
En cualquier caso, existen algunas tiendas a precios normales como Mango, A Loja do Gato Preto, Musgo, Game o Decat (la versión mini de Decathlon) y algunos restaurantes interesantes a buen precio con maravillosas vistas de los atardeceres sobre Madrid como por ejemplo Viancco que merece la pena (25/30 euros por persona).
Lo mejor de Zielo (aparte de las tiendas de decoración) son un par de tiendas no-baratas-pero-tampoco-caras. Con precios un poco por encima de lo normal (10-20%), tiene productos estupendos de buena calidad a sólo un poco más.

Una de estas marcas es Hazel, una marca ya conocida de diseño de calzado femenino  que, cuenta con un montón de tiendas por toda la ciudad. Se trata de una marca de zapatos de buena calidad con diseños preciosos. La otra es Germán Fuentes (página en Facebook aquí), una tienda que pertenece a un joven creyente y defensor de la moda que no conocía de nada pero cuya tienda me sorprendió gratamente con diseños preciosos cuyos precios se encontraban sólo un poco por encima de los de Zara. Germán Fuentes tiene una gran cantidad de producto donde escoger y a pesar de esa cantidad, su tienda mantiene una imagen perfecta y pulcra. Hay algo en su estilo que me recuerda a algunas de las tiendas que ví de jóvenes diseñadores en Los Ángeles (California) y Nueva York. Vestidos bonitos, sencillos y con cortes capaces de hacer más femenina y favorecida a casi cualquier mujer. Una ropa con aroma a juventud y muy cosmopolita. La recomiendo sinceramente.

Pozuelo’s known as one of Madrid’s most expensive areas to live. It’s a place where life quality is above the city’s average. But although people who live there earn more than most of the city, Pozuelo’s people don’t tend to buy all their clothes and stuff at shops like Loewe or Roberto Verino. They might go to luxury brands for a Christmas present, a special purse or a wedding dress but in their normal routine they do the shopping at Mercadona or Hipercor, they buy their clothes at Zara and they eat at Vips and Hollywood (chain brands) , the chinese restaurant or tapas bars. Ok, they do it more often than the average, they spend more money on private schools (Pozuelo is an area full of big families) and they drive more expensive cars (lots of them given by the  job position). But they don’t buy their day-a-day products on luxury shops.
Zielo is Pozuelo’s new mall, a posh mall to be precise. A unique place with a unique design and a lot of unique luxury brands or expensive shops. A mall there was a necessity but the way they decided to make it might not have been the best. We got young

Viancco. Restaurante italiano con excelente pinta.

and old designers, delicatessen shops and a very expensive supermarket in which the same products from the same brands you can find in other places are available there for double prize. Who thought this? I don’t even want to know.
Anyways, there are some not-expensive-shops like Mango, A Loja do Gato Preto, Musgo, Game, Decat (the little version of big Decathlon shops) and some good, not expensive and interesting restaurants with good prices and a wonderful sight of Madrid when the sun is going down like Viancco which is really worth seeing (25/30 euros per person).
The best thing from Zielo (besides the decoration shops) are a couple of not-expensive-but-not-cheap shops. With prices a little bit over the average (10-20%) they got pretty wonderful and good quality products at just a little bit more than normal prize. One of them, Hazel, is already a known footwear design brand with many shops across the city, great designs and great quality. The other one is German Fuentes, belonging to a young fashion believer  I didn’t even know but whose shop surprised me with really pretty designs that were just a little bit over Zara‘s prices. German Fuentes has a lot of product to choose yet the shop looks neat and clean. There’s something in his style that reminds me of some young designers’ shops I saw in Los Angeles.

You can find neat dresses with shapes that makes almost any feminine body look better, clothes that got the young and cosmopolitan look. I really recomend it.

Sherlock Holmes by Guy Ritchie

Yesterday I went to Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes preview with my friend Coki as usual. I had seen the trailer and wondered if Mr. Ritchie had been able to re-invent Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters into adventure heroes without inventing them. Would Sherlock Holmes become a Pirate’s of the Caribbean thanks to Guy?

Well, let me tell you briefly what I saw:
- An entertaining but somehow predictable movie.
- The worst? Kelly Reilly (Watson’s fiancee), she goes on with the same face all movie, sad or happy, you can’t tell.  I also found that the movie reminded me too much of a mix between Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter… or maybe it was just me…
- The best? Robert Downey Jr., one of Hollywood’s best actors nowadays. He’s always at his best on whatever he does and gives Sherlock the Midas touch the character needed.  The photography was incredible (reminds you of old London paintings) and of course, those close shootings so typical from Guy Ritchie’s work.

My conclusion: an entertaining but not surprising movie, good actors and good photography. And I guess Guy Ritchie made a great adventure movie but he somehow “invented” a little too much and destroyed part of what Sir Arthur had created. Not even Guy Ritchie can re-invent Sherlock Holmes and be half as good as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was every time he wrote a new Sherlock Holmes story.

Ayer fui a ver con mi amiga Coki la preview de la versión cinematográfica  que Guy Ritchie ha realizado de Sherlock Holmes.  Recordaba haber visto el tráiler y haberme preguntado si el Sr. Ritchie habría sido capaz de re-inventar a los personajes de las novelas de Sir Arthur Conan Doyle convirtiéndolos en héroes de aventuras sin inventárselos por completo. Se convertiría Sherlock Holmes en un Piratas del Caribe por culpa de Guy Ritchie?

Os resumo lo que ví:
- Una película entretenida pero predecible.
- ¿Lo peor? Kelly Reilly (la prometida de Watson), se pasa toda la película con la misma cara. Si está contenta o triste, no hay forma de saberlo.  También encontré que se parecía demasiado a una mezcla entre Piratas del Caribe y Harry Potter…o a lo mejor era yo…
- ¿Lo mejor? Robert Downey Jr., uno de los mejores actores con los que cuenta Hollywood hoy día. Siempre dando lo meor de sí, aporta al personaje de Sherlock ese toque que necesitaba el personaje. La fotografía también increíble (te recuerda a las pinturas antiguas de Londres) y por supuesto esos primero planos tan característicos de algunas de las pelis de Guy.

Mi conclusión: Una película entretenida pero que no sorprende. Buenos actores y buena fotografía. Y sí, supongo que Guy Ritchie ha logrado realizar una gran película de aventuras pero de algún modo ha inventado un poco demasiado y ha destruido parte de lo que Sir Arthur había creado. Ni siquiera Guy Ritchie puede re-inventar a Sherlock Holmes tan bien como lo hacía Sir Arthur Conan Doyle cada vez que escribía una nueva historia sobre él.

Too Faced Lip Injection

ALERT: If you’re a guy, this might not be the most interesting post for you.

In one of my many online buying moments I decided to buy a product for my poor abandoned lips. I don’t really take care of them but after seeing a friend of my mom and what only 5 years without taking care made to her mouth I decided to start pampering them a little bit.

With age, lips not only get wrinkles and get deformed but they also loose volume and their normal color. So, since color is something lipsticks can help you with, I decided to buy a product that took care of my lips’ skin and their volume and so I bought Too Faced’s “Lip Injection”.

It’s a pink cream. You just put it in your lips for 10 minutes and let it work. But you gotta cover up your lips very well. Yeah, I know, might look like you put tooth paste instead of lipstick on a sleepy morning but don’t worry, in 10 minutes you’ll take it away.

The truth? It’s supposed to make your lips grow and become really sensual. I’ve never tried any cream or lipstick able to do that on lips but it does leave them smoother, with less lines and a little more plumping and kissy if you use it daily. It’s probably the best lip product I ever tried after Carmex, the miracle for burnt and chopped lips in winter And if you want to see what other say, just click here.
